Splash Page

A splash page is a temporary, introductory webpage that appears before the main content of a website. This page will display when visitors go to your website’s homepage. Splash pages can be used to highlight or promote content before your fans reach your website. Splash pages can be used to display information such as game day information, tournament information, or to highlight special events.

Before you start creating splash pages, you need to check to make sure your website has the file created that is used to power the splash page display. To do that go to the Website tab, click on the landing section, and check for a file named splash-headlines. If that file isn’t in the section, then you will need to create it by following the instructions below:

Building the file that powers the splash page display

  1. Sign into your website and click on the Website tab

  2. Click on the landing section

  3. Click add here on the right side of the page

  4. Select Headlines as the content type

  5. Put splash-headlines in the Name field

  6. Click Continue at the bottom of the page

  7. Under Pages allowed select Splash

  8. Set the Sorting to Page date and ascending to sort the pages in chronological order

  9. Click Save Settings

  10. Click Save Changes

Video instructions:

Create a splash page

  2. Click on the splash section in the root directory. If there isn’t a splash section in the root directory you can create one by following the instructions from this page.

  3. Click [add here] to the right under Options

  4. Form the "Content type" drop down menu, select "splash"

  5. Click "Continue"

  6. Add a "name". This should be short and sweet. Most users like to include a few description words and the date.

  7. Click "Continue"

  8. In the "Featured in headlines" drop down menu, select "/landing/splash-headlines" then click "Add"

  9. In the "Live date" field, pick a date you want the splash page to go live

  10. In the "Expiration date" field, pick a date you want the splash page to come down

  11. Click the "..." button located to the right of the "Graphic" field to select your splash page image. We suggest images that are 800x600px.

  12. If you want to add a video, click the "..." button located to the right of the "Video" field to select the video file. Choose one of the following alignment options:

    • Left align

    • Center align

    • Right align

  13. To add links below the splash page image:

    • Add the name of the link in the "Text" field

    • Click the "..." button to search for the page on your site this text should link to. You can also paste in full URLs to external sites

    • Click the "Add" button

  14. If you want to add a "Permanently Bypass" link below your splash page, check the "Add Permanently Bypass link" box. This is recommended so that people that regularly visit your website don’t see the same splash page every time they come to your website homepage.

  15. Click "Save changes"
