PrestoStats Tennis Scoring Guide
Here are instructions for inputting tennis scores in PrestoStats:
Step 1: Login and access
Login to your Presto CMS admin domain and select your team's season. Check with your account administrator to ensure you have RPI access to your teams sport (i.e. Tennis)
Step 2a: Verify your Teams rosters
To support the existing CMS data models, and eliminate the risk of roster discrepancies within the Tennis stats platform itself, all team roster management should be conducted via Gameday CMS shared rosters.
Note: If your team roster includes player bios, be sure to synchronize the player bios with your teams shared roster entries
Step 2b: Select your event
Via the main page (or team/season schedule) All events (and results) will be listed. Click the ‘Stat’ icon to immediately launch the stats entry platform or access the Launch Presto Stats button via the Gameday event page.
Note: Events can also be accessed from seasons schedule in the Stats 2.0 application
Step 3: Launch PrestoStats
From the Gameday Event page, click ‘Launch PrestoStats’. If you do not see the button, reach out to your account administrator to verify you have access to ‘Tennis’ stats, as well as the RPI to a team.
Step 4: Review event settings and details
After clicking ‘Launch Presto Stats’ from a given Tennis event on the Gameday event page in CMS (step 3), you will be directed to the screen below, prompting you to review the default event settings set forth by the season.
Step 4b: Review your event information and match settings
Click the info icon on the left menu panel, to be presented with two sections that identify the event details and match settings.
Event Details
Displays the event ID or unique record of the event in CMS, in addition to information obtained from the event in CMS including start date and time, event type, Venue, Weather, Temp, Address, City, State/Country.
Additional information to be added at the discretion of the user or in relation to the rules of the governing organization include line judges and personnel.
Event Settings
Information from match settings is derived by default from the season settings that have been applied. Event settings can be edited to adjust the format of the number of matches that will be played for singles and doubles, the game type for each dual match format, the tie break type, and the number of games per set. To adjust the game format, verify the rules you select are accepted by your governing body or organization.
Note: Event settings can only be changed when no matches have been created. In case of an required update after a match record has been entered, delete the match record(s) and adjust the event settings accordingly.
Number of Matches: This number will be used to determine the number of matches (singles and doubles) that are planned for your event. The system will use this value to limit the number of matches that can be added for singles and doubles matches. Options include: up to 99
Game Type: Game type refers to the sets a player (singles) or pair (doubles) need to clinch to win the Match. Options include: single set, best of 3 sets, best of 5 sets, best of 7 sets, and up to 2 - 7
Games Per set: Games per set refers to the format needed for a player (singles) or pair (doubles) to win a Set. Options include:
Set Tiebreak Points: This number will be used to validate the set tiebreak score input that will be used to determine the winner of set (that went into tiebreaker). Options include: 7, 10, 13 Note: Match tiebreakers, both point and set format can be optionally triggered at the match level as needed)
Scoring Mode: Determines how points will be awarded to the given teams for the event (e.g. 7 or 9 point format). By default, singles winners are awarded one point per match win, and doubles teams are awarded 1 point per series (or team winning best of doubles earns the doubles point). Both options can be adjusted to fit the rules and accepted format of your governing body or organization. Options include: One point per match, Best of series
Court Type: Event property that will ultimately be displayed on Game Reports.
Step 4c: Review Team Rosters and Details
Click on the team logo in the left menu panel to see each team's details and roster. Optionally include overall record, conference record, and rank for each team.
Next, click the Rosters tab to view the players on the selected teams roster. The players included are a part of the team Shared Roster in Gameday CMS.
If you’re looking for a particular player that isn't on your roster list, verify the player exists in the teams shared roster via the Roster tab in Gameday CMS. If not, create the player in your shared roster, or to add new players, simply click the add new player button or import your whole roster.
Import Roster
To import a roster, select a csv from your local drive that includes the following field headers: First_name,last_name,year,number,national_ranking,regional_ranking,conference_ranking Note: Required field values include First_name,last_name,year
Next you will be prompted to either create new player records, or link them to existing records on your teams shared roster
Add New Player
Creating a player, or importing a team roster will require you to define which match format the player(s) are planning to participate in on the team roster list (ie. singles and doubles flag default to false when a new player is added)
Information contained in the Players Shared Roster record that are returned here include, First Name, Last Name, Year, Number (optional), Rankings (national, regional, conference).
By default, all players on the existing shared roster are enabled for singles and doubles play. Unchecking a player from either singles or doubles will remove the ability to add a player to a match record.
Note: Currently rank is an empty data field. Rank at the Shared Roster level has yet to be applied. In the interim, when rank is a required field for a match record entry, a rank can be applied to both singles players and doubles teams when entering match records.
If the other team doesn’t use Presto, so they don’t have a roster entered for their team, you may add players to their roster within the platform. This will allow you to enter the roster for the other team by selecting that team within the stats program and either add each player manually or import their roster.
Step 5: Add Singles Matches
After reviewing the event settings and managing team details and rosters, you are ready to begin entering match results. Click the ‘Start Game’ side menu item below the away team details
Click ‘Add Single Match’ button to add a new Singles Match
Step 5b: Enter Match Records (singles)
After clicking the ‘Add Single Match’ button, given that the ‘Number of Matches’ has not been met, the user will be prompted with this window to enter the rank, players, and set score. As each match is entered, and a determined, the evet score will update accordingly (based on ‘Scoring Type’)
Once determined, match winners will be presented with a Trophy alongside their name(s) indicating they have won the match. If any tiebreak points or tiebreak sets were required to determine the result, the type will be identified in the match record as well.
When a player is a singles or doubles match participant, it is indicated on the teams roster.
As matches are entered, the results of the event will be updated according to the event setting, Match Scoring Format, for both singles and doubles.
And the button to add new matches will be disabled as shown below:
Step 5c: Gameday Network Sync
While you are entering statistics, be aware of the icon below that will indicate the last time the event was synced with Gameday CMS. Be aware that changes made to rosters in Gameday CMS will be reflected during this period
The most up to date event status and results collected during the event will be presented in Gameday CMS
Step 5d: Add Doubles Matches
Execute the same procedure you followed for singles matches to add your doubles matches if applicable, and be sure to select 2 players for each team.
Step 6: Match Statuses (No player, DNF, Retired, DQ, Forfeit)
Given the out of the ordinary match scenarios and unique rulesets across leagues, the following results can also be applied to a particular match.
Disqualified (DQ)
Disqualification can be applied to a single team, and will effectively result in the opponent winning the match.
Disqualification applied to both teams will result in no match winner.
Did Not Finish (DNF)
Is applicable to both teams and will result in no match winner
Forfeit
Forfeit is applicable to a single team, and will effectively result in the opponent winning the match.
Retired
May only apply to a single team, effectively rendering the opposing team the match winner to both teams
Not Played
The match was scheduled but not played - no match winner.
When selected, match status will be presented in Match Records
Note: In cases where 1 team does not have the personnel to fulfill a planned match, you may optionally select ‘No Player’ as the match participant paired with the relevant match status above.
All provided scores will be presented under the Singles or Doubles Tab (doubles shown below)
Step 7a: Finalize Event and Order of Finish
After matches are added where a winner has been determined, the match record and result will be displayed in the Finalize event view that can be found in the left menu panel.
Drag and drop your matches amongst the other dual matches within the same format to identify your order of finish. The order of finish will be displayed on the match report once the game is finalized. You are required to put the duration of the event. If you don’t put in the duration, the game won’t be finalized and it won’t show the event as final within the box score.
Note: You may optionally add ‘attendance’ or update ‘end time’.
Click Save to Finalize the event, and view the final game report
Step 7b: Print Game Reports
Following the event, click Print to download or print your final game report. The final results will be synchronized with Gameday CMS.
You may access the finalized event from the Home page on the stats platform (or via seasons in the stats platform under ‘Completed Events’) as shown below:
After clicking ‘Stats’ on the finalized event, the game report is presented (and available for .pdf download and print).
After you close out of PrestoStats, you can also download the XTG file or PDF box score from the Event information screen by pressing those buttons in the Statistics area of the page.
