PrestoSports now connects your NCAA sport seasons directly to the NCAA's official stats database. Once a season is enrolled in the integration, your schedule, roster, and box scores flow into your PrestoSports site automatically — no more CSV imports or hand-entering games. The NCAA is the source of truth: what your program reports to the NCAA is what appears on your site.
This article covers how the integration works, what data it brings over, and how to pull the latest data on demand.
How it works-
There are two ways NCAA data reaches your site:
-
Automatic nightly sync. Every night, PrestoSports pulls the latest schedules, rosters, and game stats from the NCAA for every enrolled season, across all member teams. Only records the NCAA has changed since the previous night are fetched, so your site stays current without you doing anything.
-
On-demand sync. Don't want to wait for the nightly run? You can pull your team's latest NCAA data yourself at any time with the [sync data from NCAA] link, or refresh a single game with the Sync from NCAA button on the event page. Both are described below.
What the nightly sync pulls-
For each NCAA-enrolled season, the nightly sync brings over:
-
Schedules — new games are added to your schedule automatically, and existing games are updated when the NCAA record changes (date, time, opponent, home/away, status). Games deleted at the NCAA are cancelled or removed on your site.
-
Opponents — when a game involves a school that isn't on your site's season yet, the opponent team is created automatically.
-
Rosters — players are added and kept up to date with their jersey number, position, class year, height, weight, hometown, and high school as reported to the NCAA.
-
Game stats — once a game's official box score is on file with the NCAA, it is pulled into PrestoSports and processed through the standard stats pipeline, so season and player statistics update just as if the box score had been uploaded by hand.
Syncing your team on demand-
If you've just updated your schedule or roster at the NCAA and want it on your site right away, run a manual sync:
-
Go to your season and open your team's Schedule tab (the link is also available on the Roster tab).
-
Under Options on the right, click [sync data from NCAA].
A Sync in progress window opens and follows along as the sync runs — fetching your schedule, checking for removed games, updating your roster:
The sync usually takes under a minute. When it finishes, the page refreshes with a confirmation message and your schedule and roster reflect the latest NCAA data. Only one sync can run for a team at a time — if someone else on your staff already started one, you'll be asked to wait for it to finish.
A manual sync is scoped to your team: it pulls your team's games (adding, updating, and cancelling/removing them as needed, and creating any missing opponents) and your full roster.
Refreshing a single game-
Each NCAA-linked game has a Sync from NCAA button on its event page. Use it after a game wraps up or after a change is reported to the NCAA for just that game:
A single-game sync refreshes the game's details and pulls the latest official box score on file with the NCAA, updating the game's stats on your site.
What you can still edit-
Because the NCAA owns the schedule and roster data for enrolled seasons, some editing on PrestoSports is limited so the two systems can't drift apart:
-
Game details you still control: location and venue, game status (including weather delay, suspended, postponed, cancelled, no contest, and forfeits), notes, broadcast settings, and description flags (conference, regional, division, national). Click Edit on any game to change them.
-
NCAA-owned game details: date and time, opponents, and results can't be changed on PrestoSports. To change them, update the game with the NCAA — the change flows to your site on the next sync.
-
Removing games: the Remove button is disabled for NCAA-linked games. Games are removed by deleting them at the NCAA.
-
Local events: you can still add non-counting scrimmages and exhibitions to your schedule yourself; they are yours to edit and remove as usual.
-
Rosters: NCAA-synced players can't be deleted on PrestoSports (manage your roster with the NCAA); players you added by hand are untouched by the sync and remain fully editable. Player status (active, injured, etc.) stays under your control. Roster exports work as before.
Frequently asked questions-
A game isn't showing up on my schedule. Why? A game only appears once both schools can be resolved on the PrestoSports network. If an opponent can't be matched, that game is skipped — the rest of the sync still completes. Contact support if a game you expect is missing after a sync.
What time will the Sync happen? The sync will run at 3:30 AM EST every night.
I ran a sync but nothing changed. That usually means your site already matches the NCAA's records. Games that haven't changed are left untouched.
It says a sync is already in progress. Someone else (or another browser tab) started a sync for the same team moments ago. Wait for it to finish — under a minute — then refresh the page.
Do my stats still update if I never click anything? Yes. The nightly sync pulls new official box scores automatically. On-demand syncing is just there when you don't want to wait.
Who do I contact with questions? Reach out to PrestoSports support through the Helpdesk link at the bottom of any admin page.
Do I still upload my Box Scores? If you're a PrestoStats customer, your process for getting stats to the NCAA stays exactly the same as it is today: stat your game, then submit your box score to the NCAA the way you always have.
Why is my roster showing duplicates? When the NCAA data first syncs in, any games or players that had been entered by hand can briefly show up next to the new synced versions. Our team runs a cleanup to clear those out, so please sit tight for about 24 hours and it'll tidy itself up.
