As users check into events, they earn points which equate to coins that can be used to redeem prizes. The differences between points and coins are:
Points

Points are used to unlock awards.

As you unlock awards, your point total does not change.

Total points earned will not change unless otherwise specified by the client.

ex. During academic year, points reset by semester.

Coins

Coins are used to purchase prizes.

When you purchase a prize, that cost is deducted from your coin total.

ex. You have 100 coins. If you redeem a prize worth 15 coins, your coin total will be 85 coins. Your point total will remain 100.
