Pre-Roll Videos
Pre-roll videos are typically used as an advertising tool for content creators or companies to promote their products or services to viewers before the start of a video stream. They are usually short and concise, lasting no longer than 15 seconds to avoid frustrating the viewer and causing them to lose interest in the content. Formatting should be 720p or 1080p mp4 video at 30 frames per second for best playback.
These Instructions are for Embedded Players (EP) only and do not play inside “portal” sites. Portal sites will be sunset by late 2023.
How to use Pre-Roll Videos:
Log in to https://admin.stretchlive.com/
If you don’t see Pre-Roll listed as a feature, select Features under EP Support Tools. Make sure “Use Pre-Roll” and “Client Pre-Roll” are checked. Save changes if necessary.

EP Support Tools > Features
If you don’t have any existing Pre-Rolls you’ll see this screen.
Select “+ New Pre-Roll” to upload a new video.

EP Support Tools > Pre-Roll
Click “BrowseFiles” to open a window to select your video file.
Add a “Description” to the video to organize them in our library.
Save Changes.

EP Support Tools > Pre-Roll > New Pre-Roll
At this point your video should be in the “Video Pool” with the Description you gave it.
To use the video, click “+ Assign Pre-Roll”

EP Support Tools > Pre-Roll > Video Pool
Select your desired video by Description on the first drop-down.
Then, choose the event type or All types from the second drop-down.

EP Support Tools > Pre-Roll > Assign Pre-Roll
You should now see “Event Type Designation” showing your changes when you access Pre-Roll.
That’s it! Within a few minutes your video will now play before your stream starts in any embedded video player page.
