Reduce Size of Video File
There is a 5GB limit on uploading video files. Any files that are larger than 5GB in size can often timeout on upload, causing you to have to start over. Because of that you’ll want to reduce the size of any video files above 5GB. You can also use this to save space on your local drive or change the file type if needed.
You can use any program you’d like, if you need one, we recommend Handbrake.fr. You should only download this free program from https://handbrake.fr/, it’s official site.

When you launch Handbrake it will ask you to open a video file. You can also click Open Source or drag a video into the program.

A video opened in Handbrake.fr
The SOURCE line shows the file’s encoding. This one is 1080p, 60fps.
The PRESET on the top left is your output quality.
This particular file is 7.2 GB in size. Too large to upload as a replacement archive. I’m using the standard preset without making any changes to see if I can reduce the size of the file without losing quality.
In this instance I was able to take the file down to 5.07 GB, which should be okay to download. If I needed to cut more size I could go to 720p resolution or reduce the quality a little, if needed.
Don’t overwork your computer during the encoding, it could effect the quality and how long it takes to finish. Transcoding a video can take 30-90 minutes depending on the size of the file and how powerful your machine is.
