Microsites

A microsite is a dedicated, self-contained section within a larger website that is designed to support a specific purpose, campaign, or audience. Unlike standard site pages, microsites may operate with their own visual identity, layout, navigation structure, and content model.

Microsites are commonly used for:

  • Campaign or promotional hubs

  • Season or sport-specific content sections

  • Standalone landing pages

  • Event or recruitment-focused destinations

  • One-page branded experiences with targeted messaging

Although a microsite lives within the primary website, it behaves like a focused mini-site. Administrators can assign a unique microtheme, enabling the microsite to use its own colors, typography, components, and layout options.

Microsites may also contain nested structures - such as sport directories, seasonal tournaments, or individual event pages - allowing organizations to deliver custom-branded experiences without modifying the design of the main site.

Activating a Microsite

To create and activate a new microsite:

Instructions

  1. Navigate to Admin → Setup → Edit Site → Microsites.

  2. Enter the Microsite Name.

  3. Select the Theme to apply.

  4. Choose the Section that the microsite theme should be applied to.

  5. Click Add

Once saved, the selected folder and all pages within it will inherit the assigned microtheme and function as an independent microsite within the main website.

Warning: Dependent files such as the default-decorator, header, footer, and theme.css can have major negative impact on the design and could disturb the default presentation of the microtheme design and functionality.

Microthemes

Microthemes are precompiled templates that define a microsite's overall user interface. The theme is set using the default-decorator, similar to our file site themes. Below is a list of microthemes available for activation on any microsite definition.

Maintenance Mode

Maintenance mode prevents an existing microsite from displaying on the frontend. It is designed to target client sites with past due accounts, prompting them to inquire about their active contract.

  1. Navigate to Admin → Setup → Edit Site → Microsites.

  2. Select the Maintenance.

  3. Click Add
