Maintaining an accurate roster in the PrestoSports CMS is essential for ensuring your live stats, season totals, and historical records remain perfectly intact. Below are the best practices for managing your rosters, handling roster changes, and protecting player data.
Marking Players as Inactive
If a player leaves the team, is released, or suffers a season-ending injury, do NOT delete them from your roster.
Deleting a player permanently orphans their accumulated stats. This will break your team's season totals and remove the player from all individual leaderboards.
What to Do Instead: Mark the Player as Inactive
To remove a departed or injured player while preserving historical data, you should mark them as inactive.
-
Navigate to your team's Shared Roster in the PrestoSports CMS.
-
Click on the player's name to edit their profile.
-
Uncheck the "Active" box (or change their status to Inactive/Injured, depending on your setup).
-
Click Save.
Result: The player is now hidden from the public active roster view and the PrestoStats entry program, but their historical database stats remain perfectly intact.
Handling Roster Transfers (Mid-Season)
When a player transfers or is traded between teams within the same network or league, their stats must follow them seamlessly. Instead of creating a brand-new profile, this should be handled via the player's career page:
-
Go to the player's profile on their former team's roster.
-
Select Edit Career.
-
Use the option to copy the player to the new team within the same season.
-
Important: The former team must still mark the player as Inactive on their own roster after the transfer is complete.
Game-Day Roster Tips
-
Do NOT Add Players Mid-Game in the CMS: If a player is missing from your roster after the game has already started, do not add them to the CMS mid-game. Instead, add them directly within PrestoStats so you can score seamlessly. Post-game, you can add them to the Shared Roster in the CMS and link the stats.
-
Update Uniform Numbers Early: Ensure all jersey numbers are accurate in the CMS well before the start of the game to avoid confusion during live stat entry.
-
Sync Roster to PrestoStats: CMS changes automatically populate when you initially load the game in PrestoStats. Always complete your roster moves in the CMS before opening the game for scoring.
-
Add Players Properly: Always add new players as entirely new entries. Never overwrite an old or departed player's profile with a new player's information. If you do this, you will mistakenly assign the old player's past stats to the new player.
