Video as Thumbnail in Game Recaps
Follow these instructions to connect videos to the thumbnail for game recaps on your website.
Instructions
Sign into your site and click Website tab.
Edit content for the options file (/options).
Next to standard options at the top of the page, click the “Add” button.
Scroll down to find “Carousel: Related Video playable” and click “Add”.
Scroll down to find “Carousel: Related Video playable” and switch the dropdown to “True” instead of “False”.
Click save.
Now you're setup to use the feature and ready to include videos as thumbnails for your game recaps. Note that these videos need to be YouTube or an MP4 file uploaded to the website.
The best place to upload these videos would be in the Videos tab in the sport season in GameDay. From there you can choose to upload an MP4 file or upload a video from YouTube.
Once you've uploaded your video into Game day through the Videos tab and the video has been processed, a thumbnail will be automatically created for you that you can connect as the thumbnail for the game recap. It can take a couple of minutes for those thumbnails to be created.
Open your event information page in Game day and click "Add release" to add your story.
Once the recap is saved, go to that event, click to add an external link, select Video as the link type, select the file from the videos folder in the season folder for that sport, and click Add. This will connect the video you uploaded to thumbnail for the game recap. It can be the only Video link type published for that game. If more than one Video link type is published to that game then it won’t pull in the video you connected to that event. If you want more than one Video link to show you will need to remove it and re-add it as one of the other pre-set link types or add it as a custom link.
