Standings Options

These instructions are for clients on our Themes 1.0 and Themes 2.0 platforms. You can review your contract for information on which platform your website is on. If your website isn’t on either of those platforms these changes can only be made by contacting our Support team here.

This page contains information regarding adjusting display fields within the Standings component and standings pages on your website. They can also be used to separate teams by division within the standings.

Adjusting Fields

Fields are adjusted by adding the following options within the options file:

Component Standings: Fields

Component Standings: Labels

Standings: Fields

Standings: Labels

The Component Standings options control the fields shown within standings files in the Standings component on the website. The Standings options control the fields that show on individual standings pages.

These adjustments can be completed within the options file in the root directory of the Website tab if you want those fields to be the same for all standings site wide, or you can adjust them within the sports specific options files so they will only apply to that sport. To add or edit these options you will need to navigate to the options file you want to edit and click edit content on it.

You have to add both Fields and Labels for the corresponding standings that you want to adjust. To add these options click edit content on the options file, click Add next to Standard options, click add next to the option, repeat that process to add each one, and then click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

There are a few rules to follow when editing your standings options:

  1. Each input in both the Fields and Labels text boxes needs to be separated by a comma

  2. The number of fields added to Fields and Labels must match

  3. When editing the "Component Standings: Fields" and “Standings: Fields”, you must use this pre-determined list of key words, which correspond with each field within the standings:

Here’s an example of what you would enter in the options file for the Fields and Labels areas:

Fields you want to display on Standings pages: overall record, overall win percentage, overall games played, overall points for, and overall points against

Standings: Fields- record,winPercentage,gamesPlayed,pf,pa

Standings: Labels- Record,Win Pct.,GP,PF,PA

The text for the fields in the Standings: Labels area would show as the column headings for those fields in the standings.

Here are notes regarding the different fields and identifiers:

  • The conference and division identifiers will pull in data based on the games in the schedule that are marked as conference and division games. If games don’t have those identifiers used for them that data won’t pull into those fields in the standings.

  • The custom fields correlate with the text entered in the Custom fields are when you are editing fields. So the text you put in the first field corresponds with the custom1 field from the tables above. The fields then go in order from there for fields 2-10:

    2024-06-21_11-50-56.png

  • To adjust the points system used for standings to add custom points values you have to click Edit Points within the standings file. This will pull up the options to set custom points values for wins, losses, ties, etc.

    2024-06-21_15-46-36.png

  • The games back field is calculated based on all teams listed in a standings file, regardless of whether the teams are separated out by division. The system isn’t able to read that division separation and use it to calculate games back based on teams by division.

  • For Tournament Seed, Season Champion, and Tournament Champion fields you will have to enable those by going to the sport season in GameDay, click on the Standings tab, click Edit, click on Fields, under Extras check the box next to the fields you want to add, click Save Fields, and then click Save:

Video instructions:

Separating Teams By Division

To setup your standings to separate teams by division you will need to enable the following options within the options file in the root directory of the Website tab:

Standings: show division- this option needs to be set to true

Standings: division name- this is where you will enter the custom field being used to display the division. Normally you would put that in the first field, so that would be custom1. If you use a different custom field for divisions you would list that custom field keyword in that text box. (ex. custom2, custom3, etc.)

To adjust the order that the divisions show on the page you will need to enable this option:

Standings: division order- list the divisions in the order you want them to display separated by a comma. (ex. North,South,East,West)

The only time you would need to add any of these options in a sports specific options file is if the custom field being used for divisions will be different from other sports or if the division names are different by sport. Then you would need to add the Standings: division name and Standings: division order options in the sports specific options file and enter the custom field/division name order there.

Once you have enabled the above options you can add the division field to the standings and enter the division for each team. You will go to the GameDay tab, navigate to the sport season, click on the Standings tab, click Edit, click Fields, enter Division in the first custom field and click Save Fields, enter the division name in the Division field for each team, and then click Save.

Those standings pages will now have the teams separated out by division. If you want that adjustment to show within the Standings component on the website as well you will need to contact our Support team here.
